What is CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a naturally-occurring compound of industrial hemp (cannabis sativa) plant. It is the most abundant non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in the cannabis plants. Many people get CBD confused with a cannabinoid called THC, which is the cannabinoid found in cannabis that gives users a “high” effect. CBD (cannabidiol) is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid and does not cause a high and it serves no purpose as a recreational drug. CBD is used strictly for its health benefits.
What’s the difference between CBD from hemp and CBD from marijuana?
Both hemp and marijuana are from the same genus and species (cannabis sativa). Currently in the United States industrial hemp can contain up to 0.3% THC and still be considered hemp. If the amount of THC goes over that amount it is considered to be marijuana. Industrial hemp is bred to contain low amounts of THC and high amounts of CBD. In contrast, marijuana contains high amounts of THC and very low CBD.
How do I consume CBD?
The CBD oil/tincture Diol offers has several different applications. You can hold a sublingual dose under the tongue for 30-60 seconds which is recommended for fastest absorption.
The CBD capsules should be swallowed. You will notice a delayed absorption rate compared to the oil/tincture, but its effects are longer lasting because it is processed differently in the body.
The topical lotion that contains CBD is absorbed thru the skin when it is applied. Do not use on open wounds, eyes, mouth or on genitals.
Will CBD help my condition?
Due to federal regulations, we cannot make claims about whether natural CBD hemp oil can help with specific ailments. However, we urge everyone to research the widely available information online. You can easily find many resources about CBD hemp oil and its possible benefits.
How do you know how much CBD is in your products?
Diol CBD products are lab-tested by a third-party lab (Steep Hill) in Berkeley, California, to ensure an accurate amount of CBD. In addition, we test for all phytocannabinoids, terpenes, pesticides, herbicides, mold, fungi, heavy metals, and mycotoxins. We use cutting-edge testing and world-class equipment to ensure that our products are safe and healthy. Current certificates of analysis are posted on the website.
Is your CBD a whole plant extract, synthetic, or an isolate?
The whole plant extract is rich in a full spectrum of cannabinoids such CBC, CBG, CBDA CBDV as well as terpenes and other beneficial oils. We are trying to keep as much of the original and natural plant intact because all of the compounds work together to create what's known as an “entourage effect”. The only thing we remove is any THC that puts the limit over 0.3%. Diol never uses any synthetic materials. Diol does create CBD isolates that are used in blend formulations of the raw extracts to create high potency products.
When does the product expire?
Without refrigeration, the product will last for 8 months. Refrigeration is completely optional but will extend the shelf life of the product to one year.
What other ingredients are in your CBD oil?
Some companies like to use olive oil or coconut oil as a carrier oil for the CBD because it is less expensive, but Diol CBD oil has only one ingredient, hemp! Our extracts contain 100% organic cold pressed hemp oil and our proprietary full spectrum CBD concentrate. There are no other additives, preservatives, emulsifiers, or flavorings.
Where do you source your hemp from?
Our CBD isolate is extracted from organic hemp plants cultivated on licensed farms in Colorado. Diol imports raw hemp extracts from Europe.
Why is DIOL not USDA certified?
Currently the USDA has stated that they will not certify any hemp products grown in the United States at this time. We utilize an industry-leading third-party lab, Steep Hill, to ensure that our products are free of any contaminants. The most current certificate of analysis is posted on the Diol website.
How do you extract the CBD and other cannabinoids from the raw plant material?
Diol uses extraction methods that utilize CO2, which leaves behind no toxins, heavy metals, or chemicals to degrade the product in any way. CO2 is safe to use in food products and commonly found in carbonated beverages, and our bodies even produce CO2 when we breathe. Plus, the CO2 extraction method does not heat the oils which can be damaging to CBD concentrate if heated.
What type of CO2 extraction do you use?
Diol uses a combination of both Subcritical and Supercritical extractions. This allows us to perform a “fractional extraction” by first extracting at lower temperatures and pressures to remove the lighter, temperature-sensitive volatile oils, and then subsequently extracting the same material at a higher pressure and temperature to remove the remaining oils. This approach is the best because it allows us to extract a complete range of cannabinoids, terpenes, essential oils, and other beneficial phytochemicals that yield a more potent blend.
Dosing: How much should I take?
It is always recommended that you speak with your health care practitioner before taking any new supplements, especially if you are taking therapeutic dosages. It is advised that you always follow the recommended dosing on the bottle for a serving size. Currently there are no recommended daily dosages recommended by the FDA for CBD or any phytocannabinoids. If you are taking DIOL products, we recommend that you start with a lower dosage and then work your way up from there until you get the desired effect that you want. While side effects are rare they do happen, it is good to see how your body processes and handles CBD products at lower dosages before increasing the amount you consume.
What form should I take and how do I take it?
Oil/Tinctures
The oil /tincture products are the easiest to take. The serving size is 20 drops which is approximately ½ of a dropper full. You squirt the oil under your tongue and hold it there for 30 seconds while it absorbs sublingually and then swallow any remaining oil. It has a grassy taste to it. The oil/tinctures are absorbed the fastest and you can start to feel the effects within a few minutes and can be felt for about 2-3 hours depending on how your body processes CBD.
Capsules:
Capsules are another great way for you to consume CBD. The capsules can take a bit longer than the oils to start feeling the effects because it goes thru the digestive system and gets processed by the liver. However, because it takes longer to process the effects are longer lasting usually up to 8 hours. Think of it as a time released product. Additionally, with the capsules it is easy to administer exact dosing because they are pre-measured amounts in the capsules.
Lotions:
Lotions typically absorb in the skin very fast and the effects can be very fast because of all of the endocannabinoid system receptors located in the skin. It is recommended that you start with a small amount about a pea size amount and rub it over your affected areas. Wait and see how well you skin absorbs and utilizes the lotions before applying any additional lotion. Do NOT use on open wounds, infections, genitalia, open orifices or in your mouth or eyes.
Sprays:
Sprays are easy to take and one serving size is 6 sprays. Simply spray the formulation into your mouth and hold it under your tongue for 30 seconds and the swallow the rest of the formula. You should start to feel effects within a few minutes. It is not advised to exceed the recommended serving size unless directed to do so by your health care practitioner.
Which product is best for me?
Many of the DIOL products are designed for specific conditions such as sleep, pain, immune support or brain health. If you are just going for general health and wellness the oils or capsules are a great place to start because they are easy to take, and CBD is a great product for maintaining balance within the body. The oil/tinctures and capsules are designed to assist with a broad spectrum of conditions and they are a great starting point to try if you are new to taking CBD products. It is recommended that you consult a health care practitioner before taking any new supplements to avoid any potential interactions.
Will I fail a drug test if I take CBD products?
Yes, you can fail a drug test. We have not had any reported to us, but we do want to put out this disclaimer. You can fail a drug test even if you experience no mood-altering effects from your CBD products. CBD products are allowed to contain up to 0.3% THC and still be considered HEMP products. While these are trace amounts, it can accumulate in the body over time depending on how well a person’s body does or does not detoxify itself. Drug tests are geared toward identifying THC, not CBD or other cannabinoids. If one medicates with CBD-rich cannabis that has a small amount of THC, the THC may register on the drug test.
What’s the percentage of cannabinoids and CBD in your product?
Diol extracts have varying percentages of cannabinoid and cannabidiol (CBD) content, ranging from 10%-99%. Each product has a unique formulation and uses varying ratios of our extract types. Our CBD Isolate is over 99% pure CBD.
Where can you ship this product to?
Currently CBD products are allowed in all 50 United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe and China.
